Adore Him

“Holy, Holy, Holy, Is the Lord God Almighty, Who was, and is, and is to come.
With all creation I sing, Praise to the King of Kings! You are my everything
and I will adore You…”

We sing the Revelation Song a lot at our church; we love this song because it draws such a magnificent picture of Heaven for us. Who doesn’t want to see rainbows made of living colors? As we sang this Sunday night I heard the word “adore” rolling over and over in my spirit, what does it mean to adore someone anyway?

We talk about adoring God, our new baby or grandbaby, the dog, the cat…I really want to know what that word means, I don’t want to use it out of context anymore; surely I can’t feel the same about my cat as I do about my Savior. According to Webster’s to adore someone is:
  1. To worship with profound (deep) reverence (devotion); to address with exalted (high) thoughts, by prayer and thanksgiving; to pay divine (godlike) honors (tribute) to; to honor as a god or as divine.
  2. To love in the highest degree; to regard (respect) with the utmost (highest) esteem (appreciation), affection and respect; as, the people adore their prince.
Jesus, Prince of Peace, You are my everything and I will adore You!
